Cantabil Retail India, a brand known for its distinctive and ultra comfortable clothing is all set to launch its spring/summer ‘10 collection. The collection this year is high on fashion and full of vibrant colors.  Vijay Bansal, Chairman, Cantabil Retail India explains, “The men’s  collection

presents a season filled with adventure and cool outfits, which includes formal shirts and trousers with fine stripes, checks and plains in bright colors such as orange, purple, aqua, and peppermint. The women’s collection makes a feminine statement with gypsy or tunic-style dresses as well as a revival of the skirt.” Cropped pants, chinos and boyfriend jeans are absolute summer must-haves. Clear, rich color combinations such as juicy orange, bright pink or tomato red with grass greens, tinted grays, and bright coral red make a fashion statement this summer.

Meanwhile, the apparel maker is on an expansion path and is planning to open 100 exclusive stores all over India. They operate only through EBOs and have more than 400 outlets across India. Their manufacturing units are located in Gurgaon and Delhi, which produce five lakh pieces per month. “At Cantabil, design s are conceived as a process, which is closely linked to the consumer's choice. We constantly review the demand of customers and ensure they are conveyed to our creative teams in the most effective manner, enabling them to come up with clothing as per the customer’s requirement,” avers Bansal.

The Indian retail industry is the fifth largest in the world and discount retailing is another feature that the company greatly emphasizes on. Bansal opines, “Today discount retailing is the fastest growing segment in retail worldwide, and I am sure in the next decade India will be dominated by it. Nearly 20 to 25 per cent of revenues of most brands come from discount sales.” The opportunity in the discount retailing space will peak at Rs 30,000 crores by 2012 he predicts.

Launched in the year 2000 and overcoming competition, Cantabil today has a strong presence in the Indian retail market. Their current turnover is Rs 150 crores and by the next financial year they are projecting a target of Rs 250 crores.
