Do U Speak Green is establishing a link between spirituality and nature through its new yoga and casual wear line. The newly launched yoga wear styles for today’s fitness savvy generation includes lotus and Padma styles. The company has achieved

turnover of Rs 75 lakh in the last year and hopes to double it over the next two years.

“In
India the market for yoga wear is miniscule however, it is quite big in the US and Europe,” says Shishir Goenka, Director of Do U Speak Green. He points out that the casual wear segment is witnessing fast pace growth with a shift from formal to casual wear even at work-place.

Tapping the fitness conscious with yoga line

“The styles made by us are for men, ladies, kids and babies. We are using organic cotton and bamboo cotton fabrics with eco friendly dyes and water based prints for our collection,” explains Goenka. Though the brand was planning to introduce sleep wear and accessories as a part of its product expansion plans, it now wants to go slow with the new launches, while focusing on the demand. “We want product expansions to be in line with our ‘spirituality meets nature’ concept,” he adds.

Retail plans for the brand

Do U Speak Green concentrates on online sales and has 24 partners. Offline, it sells in 16 MBOs and seven resorts. “We hope to add 10 more MBOs this year and will roll out our own stores next year,” Goenka states. Plans are afoot to create a presence internationally. As Goenka says, “We have been participating in trade fairs in US and Germany and have appointed agents in these countries. We are shipping trial orders there. We believe nature is best enjoyed calmly and we want to create the image of peace and happiness with our brand."

The idea of launching Do U Speak Green came about due to the absence of smart clothing for nature lovers and an absence of organic clothing in India. The company contributes 10 percent of its sales towards the betterment of environment. It has also put up a video on company webstore showing how the cultivation of conventional cotton is killing farmers and how they do not have protection from pesticides, which in turn damages the soil and environment.
