Kapsons to invest Rs 60 crores, add six lifestyle stores in north

Kapsons Group houses high profile brands like Esprit, Tommy Hilfiger, CK, FCUK, Gant, US Polo, Izod, s.Oliver, Puma, Pepe, Wrangler, Indian Terrain, Levis, and Benetton. “All these are serviced by us. Of these, Esprit, Tommy, Calvin Klein, FCUK, Izod and Gant are exclusively sold by us. Lacoste is also joining in. As for Pepe, Wrangler, Benetton, US Polo, we have exclusive rights to marketing, master franchising and EBO business. We also have master franchises for Arrow, Wrangler, Puma, Benetton, Indian Terrain, US Polo, Adidas Kids, and Bio World,” says Vipin Kapoor, Director, Kapsons Fashions. Even though Kapsons does not have master franchise for Tommy, but Tommy works only with them in Punjab, Haryana, NCR and Chandigarh. The space given to premium brands in their stores varies from 600 to 800 sq. ft. Mid-level brands get 270 to 340 or 380 sq. ft.
As a retail store Kapsons Group is divided into Kapsons, Kapsons Juniors and Kapsons Exclusive. Kapsons Juniors has seven independent stores and they plan to open four more exclusive children’s store this year. Kapsons Exclusive stores only women’s brands and with the recent entry of Remanika and Forever New, the group plans to launch more Exclusive stores of around 4,000-5,000 sq. ft. in the near future. Currently, they have just one Kapsons Exclusive store at Chandigarh.
With a modest beginning by first generation entrepreneurs, Kapsons today boasts of 68 selling points including exclusive Kapsons stores and franchise outlets in 14 cities of Punjab, Chandigarh and J&K. Kapsons already has 10 premium lifestyle stores and the two new stores in Amritsar and Ludhiana, takes the number to 12. “We shall be investing Rs 60 crores in the next three years to set up six more Kapsons lifestyle stores in northern regions and setting up a warehousing facility in Punjab”, informed Kapoor. Darpan Kapoor, Senior Director, Kapsons Fashions adds, “Our concentration now would be on warehousing for the next six months and consolidating our office at one place. We already have a warehouse at Mohali. It’s a seven storey building, with seven phases and each phase is of 10,000 sq. ft.”
The group also runs the Kapsons Royal Club, an online loyalty program. “This program is contributing 28 to 34 per cent of our sales. Customers get points on purchases,” says Darpan Kapoor.
The company closed this fiscal at Rs 245 crores and by next year they aim to touch Rs 300 crores.
