After a successful debut in Delhi last April, the Kingpins Show will now hold their second exhibition in India, in the garden city of Bangalore. The invitation-only, boutique denim sourcing show featuring a highly-edited selection of vendors

will hold its maiden show in Bangalore on September 27-28, 2011 at the Karnataka Trade Promotion Organization. The Kingpins Show, which has come to be recognized as one of the most exclusive and forward sourcing trade shows serving the denim and denim-related sportswear market, had attracted sizeable crowd in Delhi. And the Bangalore show too holds a lot of promise.

Sponsored by Invista, makers of Lycra, Kingpins Bangalore will have select international denim mills, trim suppliers, fiber makers and jean makers showcasing their innovations and products. The impressive list of exhibitors include top names related to the denim industry both from lndia and across the globe: Arvind, Bhaskar Denims, LNJ Denim, Malwa Group, Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills, KG Denim, Certified Fibermax Cotton, Group Ashima, Invista, Orta Anadolu, Raymond UCO Denim, Union Knopf, Copen United, BluConnection, SF Dyes, Kurabo Denim, Nexgen Packaging and Thai Kurabo. It may be noted that entry to the show is only by invite. The attendees are handpicked to ensure that only the most important, innovative and fashion-forward brands are represented.

Andrew Olah, the brain behind the Kingpins Show and CEO of Olah Inc is a happy man. The response to the maiden show in Delhi had surely impressed him and this time he is looking forward to an equally successful event. “We are very pleased to be able to present our attendees with this fantastic line-up at Kingpins Bangalore,” said. “The strength of all Kingpins shows lies in the unique mix of companies that we are able to gather in each city and the intimate working atmosphere that we create for both our attendees and exhibitors. We think Bangalore is the perfect place to grow our Kingpins roster and we are excited to help our clients make meaningful connections there,” he says. According to him what makes the Kingpins show stand apart is that it’s different since it has an informal feel about it. Buyers and exhibitors interact in a relaxed atmosphere. It’s intimate and everyone mixes around in a relaxed atmosphere.

Another attraction in Bangalore is that this season Stylesight's Trend Director Suna Hasan will make a presentation "Essential Denim Direction: Juniors and Young Mens, Fall/Winter 2012" at the show. It will be held September 28 and is ideal for designers and buyers. Hasan's presentation will touch upon everything from must-have silhouettes and items to key hues, washes and details of the Fall/Winter 2012 season. Inside Fashion magazine will be the Kingpins Bangalore media partner, covering the show for its readership and providing in-depth post-show coverage.

The niche boutique show does have a lot of importance in since we are one of the top denim producers with about around 600 million meters being produced per annum. What’s more, experts say the market for denim is growing at around 12 per cent CAGR and by 2020 India’s denim capacity could be well over 1.2 billion meters per annum. Given this, a niche event like the Kingpins Show does augur well with most top denim players across the value chain. Kingpins, which was launched in 2004, holds biannual shows in New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Hong Kong and India.
