he well-renowned Kingpins Show, a familiar event in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Shanghai, is all set for its Indian debut. The show will be held on April 27th and April 28th at a five-star hotel in New Delhi soon.

The event will showcase the best in the denim supply chain comprising of denim mills, accessory companies as well as garment exporters from the entire South Asian region including, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as well as premium denim companies from countries like Turkey, Spain and others. The Kingpins Show is a denim material boutique where only about 20 leading companies are handpicked by the organizers to exhibit their product portfolio. For the Indian chapter, the organizers have already invited some of the top companies in the denim supply chain and will soon make an announcement to the selected participants.

Sponsored by Invista, the Kingpins Show is an invite only event where, besides the exhibitors, the buyers are individually invited so that only serious people in the industry can attend. This helps in keeping away casual visitors. Another feature which keeps the show different is the informal ‘drawing room’ setting where visitors are treated like guests and served for two days “As they would be served as if they visited our house,” says Andrew Olah, Founder of the Kingpins Show.

The Kingpins Show is the inspiration of Olah Inc -- a company which has been working in the textile industry since 1959, focusing on denim and jeans since the 70's. Olah Inc started its denim thrust working for Legler in Italy (the first denim mill in Europe) in 1978 and continues to develop and market products from reputed denim masters Kurabo Industries in Japan. Because of the brand and retail relationships Olah Inc developed, The Kingpins Show to be able to draw top buyers from denim firms to it's shows.

The New Delhi chapter of the Kingpins Show is expected to be a premier denim event in South Asia where profitable business can take place in an informal show atmosphere. Since this is an invite only show, an invite from the organizers is required.

The denim industry in the Indian sub-continent has rapidly grown over the last decade with the total denim fabric production in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh expected to exceed 1.2 billion meters soon. Also, denim garment exports from the region have also grown tremendously. With denim exports from China slowing down due to production problems, the sub-continent is set to achieve maximum growth profits over the next few years. This increased regional importance has necessitated this kind of an industry specific event to focus on the denim supply chain and enable serious denim buyers to source denim products in the sub-continent region. As in the US and Southeast Asian countries, the Indian debut of the Kingpins Show will create the required buying-selling platform for the burgeoning markets in countries of the sub-continent.
