Pearl Academy of Fashion a leading Indian fashion and design institute with international presence has teamed up with LDT Nagold, Germany (a fashion institute and knowledge organization) to organize an international conference Continuum, 2010.

And as a part of Continuum, Pearl is organizing ‘International Case Study’ competition on fashion retailing and marketing. The competition will be held in New Delhi on October 23, 2010. As Tarun Pawar, Head of Department {Retail} at Pearl says, “This competition will give impetus to the fashion and marketing industry. The cases will highlight prospective issues, challenges, problems and opportunities of the fashion industry. It will also offer indicative and feasible solutions to the challenges.” Considering the huge potential ahead, Indian and international companies eyeing to strengthen their position in the industry will find it a ‘well timed booster’.

Pawar says being a pioneer institute in fashion and marketing, Pearl hopes to make the competition a platform to interact with researchers, experts and share their knowledge. The institute takes responsibility to offer new approaches to be imbibed; new ideas to be implemented and new strategies to be executed. Understanding and interpreting data which support or challenge the existing or new assumptions should also be one of the many outcomes of the case studies. Pawar adds, “The institute sees fashion as a dynamic entity, something which is not confined to certain class or level. It is the everyday style statement of our aspirations, our longings and perceptual fulfillments which our students imbibe in their works when they undergo the training here.”

The case studies that are being invited for the competition have to be ideally of 5,000 words including the index statistics, interview feedback and summary. It should reflect real issues faced by the fashion retail industry. Help identity and recognize problems/issues/challenges being faced by a company or designers. And it should lead the industry towards an analytical and critical thinking on any given topic. The author of the best three cases will be awarded cash prizes worth $1,000 (1st prize), $750 (2nd prize) and $500 (3rd   prize).
