“In the domestic market also, a lot of brands now, have ventured into women’s western wear. Earlier people used to make only formal wear. But the club and casual look was missing. We feel the golden period of Indian retail is from 2011 to 2015, where more and more international brands will also walk in. That will be the best time for Indian consumers looking for other brands. We are in top three of the dozen players,” says Jalaj Kakkar, CEO, Remanika Apparels.
“We have maximum sales in our top wear. As for our fashion cycle, we have spring/summer, autumn/winter but every season we launch three collections. The first collection we launched this season was Pink Martini. Now we are launching another collection called Moulin Rouge. This is totally winter and party wear. Moulin Rouge has lots of vibrant colors, lots of embroidery and embellishments,” he adds.
As part of its USP of being a one-stop shop for women, Remanika has an accessories line up of bags and belts with plans to launch lingerie and shoes in 2011. It has also set up an online portal and is already doing e-retailing with Shoppers Stop, Fashion and You and 99 labels and Bagit. Currently, operating with 10 exclusive outlets and 116 MBOs, the company also has a strong presence in large formats like Pantaloons, Shoppers, Lifestyle, Central, Reliance, Kapsons and Ritu Wear. With production close to 40,000 garments per month, the company will soon unveil further plans for expansion of its manufacturing and production facilities.
