After receiving a good response for its festive booking, kids’ label Shiny has charted plans for retail expansion. Venturing into the men’s wear category is also on the agenda. “I am happy with the way things are going,” says Aman Jain, Director,

Shiny Clothing Company. The brand
is available across India through 1,000 MBOs. “We are in Assam, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, UP, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Delhi and Gujarat. We are also in stores like Bazar Retail, Pothys, RS Brothers, Chennai Silks and V Mart among others,” explains Jain.

Shiny is exploring new categories

Following the company’s retail expansion strategy, the Shiny would explore states like Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, apart from starting exports to UAE. Plans to make the brand collection available online are also in the pipeline.

Though the Shiny is into boys’ bottom wear like jeans, non-denims, capris, cargos, it is now planning to venture into men’s wear. “We will have denims and non-denims and capris and shorts under a different brand name. That may happen in 2014. The target age group would be between 16 to 27 years and the range will be priced between Rs 899 to Rs 1,299.

For Autumn/Winter ’13, Shiny’s collection comprises of a color palette that is neither too bright and nor too dull. “We are doing boys’ bottom wear in neons. Fits are stretch, skin and tapered. We use 90 percent Lycra in our garments,” adds Jain.

Shiny was launched in 1993, after a strong experience of exporting shirts expects the excise duty removal to help boost sales. However, Jain says that skilled labour shortage is affecting production.”
