She is the only designer in India to have come up with a high fashion rainwear collection not only for women, but also for men, children and even dogs. Designer Sonya Vajifdar’s unique collection has been recognized and appreciated for its
creativity and innovativeness not only in India but worldwide. “My niche product with which I launched my brand is designer rainwear. There are about 20 styles per collection ranging from raincoat dresses to trenches and ponchos,” she says. “My first item a designer raincoat, started accidently, but has now become a rage during the monsoon.” Right from its inception, the rainwear collection received rave reviews and has been featured in all top fashion magazines. And this monsoon, the designer has added more glamour to her rainwear collection. It has sequences that are completely waterproof, along with frills and puffed sleeves. She has also added that extra touch of neon to give her collection that superfluous tad of glow and transparency. The collection comprises of one off pieces with transparency, net and metallic fabrics playing a vital role.
She

Her rainwear collection is available at stores like It’s a Dog’s Life, MAL, Kidology, Tassel Style Lounge, Attic. The brand is retailing its products to stores in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad and, Goa etc, in India and Mauritius and Dubai overseas. Meanwhile it’s also planning to open stores in UK and Europe. “The year 2010 has been interesting and challenging. It has been the second year of my design label and I have had many experiences within the fashion industry. In 2011, my collections have become more glam, confident and I want to target more stores nationally and internationally,” says Vajifdar.

Being a luxury brand the best quality of fabrics is used in with classic embroidery. Much acclaimed for her designs, Vajifdar has played a vital role in styling stars like Chitrangada Singh for the Kingfisher Show, Shazahn Padamsee, Parizaad Kolah, Kamal Sidhu, Aanchal Kumar, Deepti Gujral , Soniya Mehra, Zulfi and Shawar Ali for the Derby. Her growing popularity can be gauged from the fact TV channels like Star TV and Colors are now using her clothes for some of their shows. “My spring/summer collection is full of pastel colors and light fabrics. The story of lightness emerges in each piece of the collection even though it has drapes and self colored sequence,” she says.
