With plans of adding 50,000 square feet retail space between 2013-2015 in cities like Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Mumbai, Study By Janak is looking forward to a positive winter business. Outlining their plans Manoj and Vandy Mehra, Director & Designer

duo explain, “Expectations are always high but, retention of clients is the key. Of course, we always work upon improving our service as that is what leads to word of mouth business and in case of made to measure, word of mouth is the strongest tool.”

in 1986, Study By Janak was started by Manoj Mehra from a 400 square feet shop in Karol Bagh, New Delhi. Today, its stands tall with 50,000 square feet of retail space across Delhi-NCR, and Punjab. It has transcended its two decade old success into next level, SBJ House of Luxury. This is a destination store and serves everyone aged from 20 to 80 years. The luxury store houses various segments like Study By Janak men’s and women’s couture, Italian prêt brands, Study By Janak designer suit and a large number of fabrics from the leading fabric manufacturers of world like Scabal, Zegna, Loro Piana, Cerruti to name a few. “We also have the only Savile Row certified production unit and are also the only ones to have Scabal Made to Measure to India,” they inform.

The company has always followed international trends and then intermingled them with their clients’ requirements. Commenting on the collection this season, Mehra says, “The colour of the season is Indigo, thus our collections sees this color in different forms of fabrics, treatments, and even embroideries. Gold detailing is the hottest trend across the world, thus we have included a lot of it in the collection. Classics always remain in each season’s collection.”

Study By Janak Men’s Couture has sherwanis, Indo-western, jodhpuris, long suits and Study By Janak Women’s Couture includes gowns, dresses, saris, lehengas, outfits; Italian prêt brands- Massimo Rebecchi, Daniele Alessandrini, PT01, Study By Janak designer suits, fabric bank, tailor made - which is all about customization, 40 Savile Row and Scabal Made to Measure. “In the kind of portfolio we maintain, the product categories are more or less covered. The demand pattern keeps changing. We already have accessories, to complement and finish the entire look. Clutches, purses, neckpieces for women and pocket squares, scarves, cravats, ties etc for the men…it’s about the complete look we give to the client,” Mehra explains.
