Study by Janak, the designer wear brand has just launched a couture collection only for men called Manoj and Ayush Mehra. The brand plans to pump in Rs 5 crore for the new collection. “We want to go global with it and will put this collection in all multi-designer stores. Eventually, we plan

to open standalone stores under this label,” says Aartiee M Mehrra, Director of Study by Janak. The new collection comprises sherwanis, bandhgalas, kurta-payjamas, tweed jackets, formal jackets, party shirts and trousers.

A well established brand for over three decades, Study by Janak, is best known for its occasion wear. Their collection ranges from ethnic wear to Indo-western wear. Tarino is their prêt line, which has shirts, T-shirts, jeans, jackets, shoes and accessories. The Study by Janak W is their women’s wear collection which offers everything from short dresses to gowns, Indo-westerns to overcoats and saris to lehengas.  However, the brand is betting big with the Manoj and Ayush Mehra collection, the designer label by father-son duo Manoj and Ayush Mehra.

“The price point for this collection would be much higher than Tarino. We would be doing the complete range but in lesser numbers. The stores will be called Manoj and Ayush Mehra and will be directly managed by us,” explains Mehrra. The brand is looking at opening these exclusive stores in Dubai and Mumbai. In Delhi it will open its doors in the up-market Emporio Mall.

Mehraa says till now the brand has only company-owned stores and they are not looking at expanding to shop-in-shops formats just yet, “Even though we have a lot of offers, we will never opt for shop-in-shops. We may go for a large format like Collective, which has opened only one store till now. We will talk to them for the Manoj and Ayush Mehra collection,” says Mehrra.

At the moment, the brand has exclusive brand stores in Amritsar, Delhi, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Gurgaon. Most of these are spread out over an area of 4,000 sq. ft. Meanwhile, the brand has also launched its Valentine’s Day collection for both men and women.

With a turnover of Rs 40 crores in this financial year, Study by Janak is aiming for a 25 per cent growth next year.
