Tassel Style Lounge the first contemporary multi-designer boutique launched in Mumbai recently is already weaving out its expansion plans. In the next three years they are looking at opening 10 stores both in India and abroad. Nestled among Mumbai’s

fashion bourgeoisie, aspiring actors, models and film industry Tassel’s maiden store in Mumbai is the brainchild of Vivek and Mamta Gautam and Meg Ryley, a New York-based designer and stylist. Incidentally, the Gautams are also the owners of INIFD (International Institute of Fashion Designing) in Mumbai. INIFD was started by Vivek Gautam with a vision to provide good quality education in the field of design.

Vivek says their store is targeted at “women who like to dress up fashionably with a contemporary touch. We are targeting women of the sub-urban area who want to dress fashionably but do not have access to a variety of designers at one place.” The boutique offers a selection of the newest and emerging talent as well as established contemporary designers like Digvijay Singh representing Bhusattva, Pero launched by Aneeth Arora, Nachiket  Barve, Atithi Gupta, Harangad Singh, Rajat Tangri, Vizyon: Kolkata-based husband and wife duo, Shradha and Ayush Murarka, Bungalow 8 which introduces - its in-house fashion label designed exclusively by Mathieu Gugumus-Leguillon.  “All these designers design clothes which have western cuts with a contemporary touch. You can see a mix of dresses, tunics, gowns, pants etc, the designers all comply to the theme of the store contemporary clothing,” says Ryley. “We have two seasons like summer/resort and winter/festive just like most fashion weeks. Our collections will be following similar fashion cycles. For now, the store has clothes which are for the festive season,” he adds.

Spread over 1,000 sq. ft. The store also has a range of accessories like scarves, embroidered neck pieces, jewellery like ear rings, necklaces are available at the store. They are an important part of the store as accessories have now become an important part of dressing.

The store which opened just a month ago is fast emerging as a hot spot for high fashion. Mamta Gautam says Tassel Style Lounge will also host a variety of events geared towards introducing the consumer to the designers such as trunk shows, brand awareness promotions and preferred customer invite-only gatherings.  “The goal is to not only promote the designer’s vision and presence in the market, but to also form a connection with the consumer that solidifies a long-lasting relationship with the brand identity.”
