With big plans to add a summer wear range and expand across more, Vedas the brand from Shri Hari Om Industries is looking to a marginal five per cent growth this winter. Elaborating on their plans, Director duo, Varun and Gopa Aggarwal say,

“We are trying our best to launch summer wear with kurtis and tunics. In fact, we had tried our hands at offering similar products in 2003, where we gave fashionable embroideries, however it was not accepted. Now we feel with a change in consumer tastes, the time has come to re-launch our products in the market. We will introduce it in spring/summer 2013.”

On
the retail front, the company wants to make inroads in states like West Bengal and the Northeast and also Madhya Pradesh by Autumn/Winter 2013. “We are also looking at exports in a big way and Europe and Australia are in our radar. In the next five years we will make our product line stronger and open stores internationally. First, we will launch EBOs internationally and then test the domestic market,” they explain.

The brand range is currently available in about nine to ten states and it supplies to about 300 MBOs. “Our target is not to increase the width but look at the depth in existing shops. We are trying to increase the capacity of these shops. Our presence is marked at Shyam Garments, Biglife Ritu Wears and many other counters. We want to get into bigger large format stores but it will happen only when we introduce our summer range,” they opine.

Vedas was launched in 2002 with kurtis and woven tops for summer. Then it shifted to winter wear in 2003. This winter, the range also includes winter capes and shrugs. “In jackets, we have innovated in cotton, tweeds, and then there is a new bubble fabric. A mix of polyester and cotton is the preferred trend in jackets. Colours are mostly bright tones like pink, red, green, purple. We have introduced coats with detachable collars inside. They look like one is wearing a shirt inside. Most coats we have are in tweed. They are knee length with slim fits which is the trend in the market. We also make reversible track suits,” Aggarwal adds.
