Dressed in a golden and white elaborate gown, Shraddha Kapoor opened the show for designer Anju Modi at the recent Cotoure Week in Delhi. Modi’s ethnic couture collection titled ‘Maya’ celebrated the grandeur of the Mughal epoch. Angrakhas, saris, velvet jackets and lehengas in white, maroon, gold and ivory and maroon formed the basis of the show. The net lehengas, velvet jackets, chiffon sarees, satin corsets were sheer elegance. The colors ranged from a royal blue palette infused with ivory, wine and black. The Angrakhas with draped pants and the saris and lehengas made in Varanasi brocades, velvets and tissues with mythological muse… Maya did spread its charm.

Indeed a revered couturier, Anju Modi has been a strong force behind the growth of fashion in India. Synonymous with luxury, beauty and brilliance, her designs have mesmerized numerous followers of fashion across the globe. Her cotoure collection, Maya was conjured by the gods as the goddess of wealth herself. Modi said the goddess was the ultimate seduction. Her collection could be segregated into two parts: the bridal look and a power play for the red carpet. The audience was packed with guests who were wowed by her splendid collection.
