Inspired by the popular 'Art Deco' movement, the dual collection by versatile designer Ritu Kumar brought the curtains down on the Spring/Summer 2013 season of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW). Completing 45 years of rich journey in the fashion world the collection was a juxtaposition of old and new. She started off by displaying ‘The Label’ by Ritu Kumar. It was significant transition from the old world charm of couture, to a more fashion forward, modern representation. The modern designs were presented in innovative graphics, blazing colours, romanticism, new techniques, unusual combinations of textures and forms in an Indian avatar.

The finale’s first segment started with an audio visual documenting the story of a garment that unveiled itself on the runway. The mood was set with an ornate gate in the center of the ramp, equipped with LED screens and an alluring smoke curtain which made for a dramatic presentation. The next segment was a spectacular live performance by dancers that brought back the swinging sixties with their charming moves on stage. This playful segment then gave way to models sashaying down in free flowing and elegant silhouettes.

Speaking at the grand finale, Atul Chand, Divisional Chief Executive, ITC Lifestyle Retailing, said, “The Wills Lifestyle Grand Finale has always set new benchmarks in terms of showcasing the best of Indian fashion. The Grand Finale today was truly splendid and was a fitting tribute to Ritu Kumar, her creativity and technique.”
