Danish multinational carpet company ‘Ege’ and ace designer ‘Rohit Bal’ teamed up to create an Indian carpet story, a special collection of carpets, which was unveiled in New Delhi recently. The brand has signed on the designer to create a collection under his label that would be sold in 65 international markets.
The collection of carpets is the essence of India, representing its diversity and rich cultural design heritage. The story ranges from classic to the contemporary, a journey through its mystical and magical history. The models dressed in the same print as the carpets hanging from the aesthetic iron cast frames unveiled the collection at the event.
While the designer has no plans to shift base abroad, he would continue to promote rich Indian culture offshore through his creations. After over two decades in the Indian fashion industry, he is experimenting and expanding his business through international tie-ups and the latest is his association with Ege. This is for the first time that the brand has partnered with a designer outside Europe.
In India, Bals’ carpet collection will be sold in two categories -- wall to wall carpets for hotels, airports and corporate offices and rugs that will have the designer’s signature on them.
