India’s first ever Resort Fashion Week held in Goa recently saw designers showcasing designs in vibrant shades and cuts such as bubble gum pink and orange frocks, sequin bikinis, and loose kaftans. The collections reflected a perfect blend of traditional Indian aesthetics and western influences.

While designer James Ferreira showcased his signature Grecian silhouette in a resort collection fit for a goddess, models sashayed down in billowy, colour-blocked silk dresses and strappy gold accessories. On the second day of the show, Felix Bendish’s inspiration was nature in the form of lizard shaped brooches, feather necklaces and butterfly headgear. Manish Malhotra’s resort collection at the do consisted of lighter, sheer chiffon dresses and saris in sherbet pink and aqua tones. Gold lamé, velvet and sequined bandeaus added glamour to the pieces. Ken Ferns showcased a series of all-white tunics, crinkled tops and easy trousers in fluid fabrics, while Divya Mohta showed the complete opposite with eclectic prints and bright colours. Gogee Vasant’s resort line consisted of mainly kaftans, maxi dresses and sheer shirts in purple, teal with details in the form of prints and ruffled hemlines.

In her show, Anupama Dayal showcased beach cover ups, sheer palazzo pants, kurtas and a few saris. Narendra Kumar showcased his Japanese-inspired, ‘Osonai’ collection which was an amalgamation of tailored shirts for men and women, flowing dresses in shades of mustard, pale peach, pink and green. Asmita Marwa presented a collection consisting of tie n dye printed saris and cover-ups along with sequined hemlines and studded bikini tops added a flirty touch to the otherwise subdued designs.
