An initiative by the B D Somani Institute of Art and Fashion Technology saw Indian designers participate at the 11th HKTDC World Boutique under the 'International Desi' brand. A team of four designers, all alumni of B D Somani Institute participated under ‘International Desi’ theme. They had a dedicated fashion show that was well presented and marked their presence about Indian and Indo-western designs. This is the second time that B D Somani had organsied the combined participation under this identity in HK Fashion Week. Designers from India included Shraddha Vora, an upcoming designer who has bagged many awards for her designs that can be best described as ‘fusion fashion’.
Shouger Merchant Doshi's 'Zanaaya Couture's designs had trenditional, chic and trendy ways of draping Indian outfits while keeping traditional elements alive. C Singh’s designs were all about contemporary Indian fashion in a melange of colours and fabrics for those who prefer the Indian style of dressing but crave individuality and uniqueness in their outfits.
The Indian designers received stupendous response when they showcased their collections at the fashion parade of World Boutique. Buyers from South America, China, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Spain and other countries showed keen interest in doing business with them.
