The culmination of a fashion extravaganza and a unique platform to nurture the next generation of fashion and design was celebrated with a glittering award ceremony at DLF Emporio in New Delhi. The platform gave students the freedom to explore boundless creativity and innovation in the field of accessory/product design. The winner of ‘Student Designer of the Year 2013-14’ and also the People’s Choice award went to Purwa Kumari Sharan from NIFT, Gandhinagar for her stunning sari design inspired earrings. She now gets a chance to intern with a leading Indian designer and also the opportunity to design and place her collection at the DLF Emporio Luxury Shopping Festival in April 2014.

The two runner-ups ‘Student Emerging Designer of the Year 2014’ awards were: Aiken Derissaliyeva from GD Goenka School of Fashion, for her design in the accessory category and Anubha Jain, Pearl Academy of Fashion, for her inspiration of a denim sari under apparel category.

The theme of this edition of DLF Emporio Design Awards was to celebrate five years of luxury in India by ‘Reinventing the Classics’ such as the iconic Burberry Trench, Dior Bar Jacket, Fendi Baguette or even the traditional Indian sari. The event attracted many entries from international and Indian colleges. Budding designers from institutes such as Pearl Fashion Academy, NIFT, Amity University, G D Goenka School of Fashion, J D Institute of Fashion and London College of Fashion among others took part.

A special jury consisting of stalwarts such as ace designer Vineet Bahl, fashion designer Leena Singh of Ashima Leena, fashion guru and leading stylist Gautum Kalra, FDCI president Sunil Sethi, style icon and fashion editor Bandana Tiwari and Senior Vice President of DLF Emporio, Dinaz Madhukar.
