Fashion is not only mainstream it can be kitschy and edgy as well. In fact kitch is in and fashion designing are putting in that sudden unexpected twist to keep buyers interested. So designers are being innovative and creative with every collection they showcase. And one such designer is Sabah Khan, known for collections like Tuk Tuk and No Class collections. Tuk Tuk is based on autos, their contrasting and clashing color themes. She displayed bikinis, pants, dhotis, dungarees, waist coats, tees with autorickshaw prints and patchwork running through them. The color palette tones is in beige, cream, dark brown, light brown, etc. The collection also has matching waist pouches, shoulder bags and large colorful funky bags.

No Class displayed at Lakme Fashion Week Summer 2010 reflected the spirit of Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum. The designer used slum children pictures as a print on her garments. Geometric cuts were mixed with lots of patchwork. Cotton, linen and georgette formed long and short dresses. Sabah Khan, a dedicated fitness enthusiast, is a fan of Manish Malhotra. She holds a degree in fashion design from INIFD. At 14, she started helping her mother in designing. Her label Sabashe by Sabah Khan was launched under the Gen Next program at the Lakme Fashion Week spring/summer 2010. She plans to retail the label in South Africa and Dubai. Her work has been appreciated by top designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Satya Paul, Rocky S, Anita Dongre, Shantanu and Nikhil, Gauri and Nainika and Anamika Khanna.
