Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee opened the India Couture Week with his collection titled ‘Ferozabad’. The designs took inspiration from the old-world charm of the city of Mughal Emperor Akbar. Bollywood actress and designer’s muse, Rani Mukherjee, adorned the first row in the audience, looking beautiful in a beige embellished zardozi sari.

The ramp was decorated like the compartment of a luxury train and the designer created a scene of a train journey. Models sashayed down the ramp wearing saris teamed with high-neck blouses, anarkalis , lehengas and shararas. Sabyasachi also presented a rugged collection for men comprising of bandhgalas, embroidered trousers and khadi coats.

The six-day fashion extravaganza will witness nine of the country’s top designers Anamika Khanna, Anju Modi, Gaurav Gupta, Manish Arora, Manish Malhotra, Monisha Jaising, Rina Dhaka, Rohit Bal and Varun Bahl showcasing their work. Organised by the FDCI, the Week celebrates India’s everlasting love for luxury and fine taste in high end couture.
