Designer Manish Arora showcased his very first desi bridal collection influenced by kitsch and LSD patterns through his collection ‘Indian’ on the fourth day of the PCJ Delhi Couture Week. Taking inspiration from the early days of his career, Arora created designs displaying Indian street art, digital prints and gold colour.

Very Indian shades like orange, pink, green, blue and black dominated the collection on the ramp with gold remaining in the focus in most of his pieces. Each hand-crafted garment was embellished with stones, metals, sequins and crystals. The range comprised of lehengas, bandhgalas, saris, churidars with kurtas and anarkali suits. He paired his bright Indian outfits with heavily embellished jackets. The designer also used gold heart prints and traditional peacock motifs in geometrical patterns provinding uniqueness to his entire collection. Arora made use of rich luxury fabrics like silk brocade from Varanasi, crepes, georgette and chiffon for his ensembles.

The stage was divided into three levels – with the top most ornamented with swans, second by pink hearts and third by lotuses apart from elephants, wheels and colourful pots throwing open a riot of colours. Models wearing oversized nose rings, subtle Mohawk style maang tika and goddess Durga-inspired masks sashayed down the ramp in Arora’s specially crafted Indian wear.
