The third edition of India Runway Week (IRW), organized by the Indian Federation for Fashion Development (IFFD) saw fresh ideas and perfect blend of Indo-western looks. Over 35 designers presented their Winter/Festive 2014 creations. IRW is organized to boost emerging and new talent from the design industry.

While designer Rosy Ahluwalia’s designs had dominant play of zardozi, Swarovski and Zariwork embellishments on royal lehengas and floor length gowns, Kavita Gogna and Aarti Tripathi chose ice-cream colours for their Indo-western ensembles. On the other hand, Sandeep Singh and Pummy Bhatia’s ethnicwear collection with heavy doriwork, pearls, beads and crushed silk was perfect for the festive and wedding season, the designer duo Cheena and Shirin Singh of the ‘Indulgence’ displayed dresses for the cocktail in shades of nude, blue and red tones.

Indrani Chowdhury’s digitally printed crisp cotton, linen and khaki looks, Roli and Saurabh Khandelwal’s flowing satin dresses and designer Kshitija Rana’s royal wedding collection of lehengas, sarees and salwar suits wowed the audience. Akanksha and Dhruv, for their ‘Raas’ collection presented ethnic wear and Megha Kumari and Jigar Mali used polyester, tulle and net for their ensembles. Designer Rashi Kapoor’s designs were in flowy and colourful fabrics like georgette, net and brocade.

The second day also witnessed a showcase of men’s wear designs by Manish Gupta, who showed an edgy grey and black based line titled ‘Stylion’, and designer Fahd Khatri’s ethnic jackets made using brocades, satins and cottons. The final day had wearable designs in colours like blue, white and yellow by the designer-duo Anita Sihaag and Nitin Gupta and an indo-western collection by Prerna Jha.
