Delhi-based fashion designer-duo Kapil & Mmonika recently displayed their latest collection for women and men at India Fashion Week held in Dubai. Focusing on red and black as primary colours for their ensembles, the duo tried to create an illusion of Islamic royal architecture by making use of gold with dori, hand ari, laser cutting and crystal stones. Swarovski elements were used to enrich the surface and it was a unique feature of the collection.
The silhouettes were crafted in luxurious fabrics like net, fine silks, dupion, jacquards, georgette and velvets. The range consisted of anarkali suits, draped sarees, bridal lehnga’s, and sharara. Dhabka, cut dana and zari added an oomph factor to the men’s wear.
Kapil & Mmonika launched their eponymous label in year 2006 with femininity forming the essence of their label. Inspired by anything that is beautiful, they always tried creating romantic designs with styles that are luxurious yet understated. Their garments put a strong emphasis on fabrics, cuts & colours and the designs. By combining tailoring with drapery, the garments are meticulously crafted and have a timeless appeal. They are self-trained designers having a keen eye for aesthetics and traditional Indian craftsmanship.
