Manav Gangwani’s collection, ‘A Timeless Affaire’ for the Synergy one Delhi Couture Week was opulent and glamorous. The floor length dresses, gowns, anarkalis, lehengas, voluminous and layered ball gown skirts, mermaid and fishtail wowed the audience who gave him a standing ovation. His show was a rendezvous between dreams and reality transcending space and time. He played around with a choice of fabrics -- shaded georgette, Italian chiffon, French lame, silk velvet, satin, net in white, yellow, orange, and gold.

Western cuts, with lots of ruffles and layering formed the premise of the silhouettes. Embellishing the fish-cut gowns, anarkalis, saris and lehengas were Swarovski crystals, tassels, sequins, mirror work, and zardozi which added bling and glamour in abundance. Forgetting the structure of the silhouette, the spectators seemed to be totally mesmerized by the sheer grandeur of the collection.

“My collection is couture in the real sense. This is international interpretation of couture. Timeless depicts sun- starting from dawn to sunlight to sunset. The collection is about woman turning into a warrior, going back in time to find her love and coming out as a winner. Fabrics used are mostly French lace, georgette, Chinese silk and pure satin,” said Gangwani about his collection. But, kudos to the models who, visibly, had a tough time carrying such heavy garments. In fact, some of the dresses were so heavily embellished that not an inch of the fabric was visible.
