Designer Masaba Gupta unveiled the new, young Satya Paul girl as she presented her debut collection on the opening day of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2013 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

After taking charge as fashion director of renowned Satya Paul label, the designer, gave a younger and quirky look to her designs that wooed the target audience the label is vying to tap now. When the company hired the young designer, her mandate was to reposition the brand as aiming at the young girls instead of women above 30.

The collection was divided into four parts - the first consisted of lipstick prints, the second was ink blot on garments, the third section had abstract designs and the last part had telephone booth imprints. Models sashayed down the runway in mini and maxi dresses, gowns, saris teamed up with printed blouses, jackets, pallazo pant saris, tunics, kaftans and trench dresses. The colour palate ranged from the designer’s favourite neon, black, white, orange to a pop of pink in between.

With backing of Louis Vuitton group’s private equity arm L Capital that owns 40 per cent stake in Genesis, Satya Paul wants to focus on both digital marketing and retail expansion as well.
