Taking the audiences back to those good old childhood days at the recent Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012, Disney Couture presented its collections of designers Little Shilpa and Nitin Bal Chauhan. The line was inspired by Disney characters especially Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Creator of exotic head gear, Little Shilpa, has been consistently displaying mind-boggling headgear at fashion weeks. But this time she moved her inspirations to cartoon characters from the world of Disney and displayed garments that had a quirky touch. Her collection of 20 ensembles was a delightful play of drapes in cotton net, Lycra silk inspired by pop surrealism. Adding on lots of bows, polka dots, stars, hearts and daises all associated with the Disney characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Little Shilpa teamed the striking garments with head gear and neckpieces. Attempting shoes and bags for the first time, the designer gave a compete look to the apparel.

Designer Nitin Bal, inspired by the many cartoons that are in the Disney stable ensured that the theme was reflected perfectly in his collection. Keeping the color story on a blue shade card with bits of red, Nitin used washed denim for men’s and women’s wear and added on matching bags, belts, headgear and accessories. Known to use the most unconventional materials for his creations, Nitin added on leather, canvas, fibre glass, acrylic, wires, metallic gauze and even test tubes and junk to mould them into flowers and wild head gear. The dominant inspirations from Mickey Mouse were his ears and Minnie’s bows along with polka dots and buttons.
