When Indian-born American designer Naeem Khan presentated his Fall 2013 collection at the New York Fashion Week, the high profile audience was left awestruck by the designs. The inspiration was ‘art deco’, Illustrations of 1920s Erte, and as Khan said, how to you mix it with embroideries and embellishments. He looked into the Ottoman and Byzantine era for inspiration. The shapes were molded; the patterns forming to the body. And he sure did get a standing ovation for his stunning collection.

For his runway collection this season, Khan’s designs had everything from glitz, glam and timeless opulence paired with flawless hair by Bumble and Bumble and makeup by NARS. Models wearing embellished gowns, smart yet sexy necklines and bling in perfect 47 looks sashayed down the ramp to the sounds of Little Dragon. The sleek gowns were red carpet-worthy, each with a different feature like open back, high collar, keyhole neckline, long sleeves, sequins, velvet, gold threads, and an intricate print. And one of the beaded gold gowns elicited an audible "wow" from Matt Damon, who attended Khan's show with his wife.

Khan founded his eponymous label ‘Naeem Khan’ in 2003, presenting his first collection at Olympus Fashion Week in 2005. His work is ornate, intricately detailed, and best known for red-carpet gowns employing handmade fabrics. The label is carried in more than 200 stores, including Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Saks Fifth Avenue. His designs have been worn by celebrities including Beyoncé, Carrie Underwood, Eva Longoria, Leighton Meester, Brooke Shields and even Michelle Obama.
