Designer Tahera Peeran who debuted at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Autumn/Winter ’12 created quite an impression with her collection ‘New Slang’. Peeran, who has previously participated in shows like Creation Fashion Week in Dubai and Colombo Fashion Week, showcased her line which was a pairing of opposites -- fluidity with structure, masculine with feminine, austerity with quirky. She drew inspiration from ‘Squiggle Art’, translated into contemporary, edgy Batik and Shibori prints.

She also has her own label ‘Tahera’, which she launched four years ago in Mumbai, Banglore, Hyderabad and Chennai. And she will soon open the store in Delhi. Earlier, Peeran had won an award for excellence in fashion design at the 2009 Beyu Fashion Awards. Her signature style of feminine architecture was visible at WIFW as she teamed straight lines and rough chic tailoring with relaxed wraps and drapes. Eighteenth century cravats and neckties were a starting point for the varied bow drapes, visible throughout the collection. Her color palette varied from a mix of navy, teal, desert nude, sage, lime and coral in khadi silk, dupion, georgette and silk satin.
