Phadnis rocks Toronto IIFA

The Indian diaspora in Toronto were taken on a fascinating journey into the world of Indian fashion at an extravagant show held alongside a dazzling weekend celebrating Indian films. The highlight of the event was the fashion sequence ‘Gitanjali Jewels presents Nizam by Vikram Phadnis’. The show was inspired by the rich traditions of Indian royalty and evoked the opulence of a bygone era. It reached a heady climax when Sonakshi Sinha made a dramatic entry in an exquisite outfit from the designer’s ‘Nizam’ collection. Models showcased Phadnis’ gorgeous creations inspired by some breathtaking jewelry from Nizam, crafted in classic gold set with uncut diamonds and colored stones, which combine the spectacular art of India’s artisans and the rich heritage of traditional jewelry forms. Musicians Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy unleashed their magic, adding to the atmosphere of celebration. During the weekend, Gitanjali also presented a Fashion Walk with the starcast of recent Bollywood release Double Dhamaal.

Fashion designers Sabyasachi and Rajesh Pratap Singh also unveiled new collections with Neha Dupia, Bipasha Basu, Bret Lee, Zayed Khan and Rahul Khanna adding to the glam quotient. Bipasha Basu was the new poster girl for Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
