‘Robyn Jetset India’ at TIS

Taipei In Style (TIS), one of the important fashion events in Asia was held from October 15-17, 2013. More than 218 exhibitors participated at the event and over than 264 booths were on display. With the support of the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs, the ‘Taipei In Style’ helps Taiwanese textiles and apparel industry to promote itself overseas and attract international buyers. The scale of this year’s event was the largest in terms of the number of exhibitors, invited brands, buyers, as well as one-on-one business meetings.

The event attracted buyers and industry representatives from more than 20 countries. The 8th edition of TIS 2013 also witnessed Indian influence in its collection. Robyn, one of the famous domestic designers labels in Taiwan displayed a mix and match casual wear 2013 A/W collection. Her elaborate upper Delhi Side and the Jungle Fever collection depicted exotic touch of India and tropical jungle. ‘Robyn Jetset India’ collection by design director Robyn Hung mixed the carefree hippie spirit with mash-ups of casual dress. This Indian inspired clothing added the extra glam to TIS 2013. Hung is a well established designer with over 60 outlets in China. Robyn as a brand is part of an international group called Bernini.

Domestic designers and brands also attended the festivities. Taiwanese designer Lee Kun Ming combined bright and matte colours for the event. The range had pastels with a fashion charm. Similarly Taiwan Indigenous Style came up with an elaborately beautiful collection based on the concept that integrates all the fashion collections in Taiwan indigenous styles. During the show, there was an exhibition showcasing three major themes namely Traditional and Refined Clothing, Modern and Creative Clothing and Ornaments and Accessories.

With several exciting activities and exhibitions, TIS 2013 witnessed the strength of Taiwanese fashion and design. The event also hosted many activities, including 11 in house shows, three seminars, and seven trunk shows. It further enhanced international exposure of all exhibiting designers and companies to create unlimited business opportunities.

The show concluded with the ‘Taiwan Fashion Design Award 2013 Finale’, an annual design contest for newcomers in the design world. The contest has seen many competitors go on to become the new stars of the Taiwanese fashion scene, continuing to inject vitality into the Taiwanese fashion industry.
