Sabya’s ‘Absolute Royal’ finale

Presenting a glittering collection of royal Indian wear, celebrated designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee brought the curtains down at the Grand Finale of the Lakme Fashion Week winter/festive season. The ‘Absolute Royal’ range of designs consisted of two exquisite day and night looks.

Returning to the fashion week after a gap of five years, Mukherjee’s show was a treat to watch. The show began with a model singing a song as seven big chandeliers were lit and rest of the models began sashaying down the ramp. The designs ranged from neutral tones of nude, ivory, white, beige and then gradually moved to festive shades of red and black. A line-up of ensembles had quilted skirts, lehengas, saris, waistcoats, skirts, jackets, dresses, sherwanis and kurta churidars teamed with heavy duppatas, glares, heavy jewellery and purses, while boys flaunted turbans.

Though there was no show-stopper for the finale this time, Bollywood celebrities like Nargis Fakhri, Kalki Koechlin, Sameera Reddy, Shraddha Kapoor, Jugal Hansraj and others were seen at the grand finale. The five-day fashion extravaganza had begun on August 23 with close to 89 designers presenting their collections. Veterans like Sabyasachi, Ritu Kumar, Manish Malhotra, Archana Kochhar, Anita Dongre, Rocky S, Vikram Phadnis, Rahul Mishra and others showcased their designs during the fashion extravaganza.
