Highly criticised for his ensembles created for Bollywood actress Vidya Balan for Cannes, renowned designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee presented a collection high on glamour quotient for the opening night of PCJ Delhi Couture Week in Delhi. With his designs titled ‘Opium’, he literally spread his charm.

The collections were a perfect blend of traditional with modern. Mukherjee perfectly blended and combined the aesthetic sensibilities of West and the East. It was a fusion of elements from various states of India from West Bengal to Rajasthan, Kashmir to Karnataka all amalgamated with ideas from the West. While sticking to neutral shades of nude, ivory, white and champagne, models donned quilted skirts, tulle lehenga saris, spangled khadi tops, bra-tops, flapper waistcoats and dresses along with silk sherwanis and lace kurta churidars. Every outfit was embellished with gold sequins, zardozi mirror work and Kashmiri work.

Overall, nine veteran designers are presenting their collections and exquisite designs for a discerning audience during the fashion extraveganza. Other participating designers include Anamika Khanna, Arjun Khanna, Gaurav Gupta, Manish Arora, Manish Malhotra, Ritu Beri and Varun Bahl.
