Scintillating silhouettes of nature

It was a dramatic fashion show by the graduating students of B D Somani Institute of Fashion Technology celebrating nature in couture at its best. The show was directed by ace choreographer Anu Ahuja Kapoor and conceptualized by the institute’s fashion head Raju Bhatia, with design innovation and experimental styling. The students wowed fashion stalwarts like Vikram Phadnis, Archana Kochhar, Babita Malkani, Amy Billimoria, Riyaz Ganji and Meher Castellino.
This occasion also saw the felicitation of former Miss India and Fashion Commentator, Meher Castellino for her momentous contribution to the field of Indian fashion and beauty. Also eco-chic pioneer, designer Anita Dongre was felicitated for her creative efforts of promoting environmentally fashionable design approaches. It featured versatile collections ranging from high fashion, coral inspired gowns, commercial resort uniforms to adorable flower inspired kids’ wear and delicate Rafia Indo-western wear. Most of the awards were bagged by a group of girls called Palm-mystery, who created digitally printed draped jumpsuit in monotone handprint further dozed with neon accents and tribal details. Also both the menswear designs – Cub Club and and Nautical Nuances bagged awards. The celebrity studded show had popular TV stars like Aashka Goradia walk in high end coral inspired couture gown for the collection mentored by Amy Billimoria.
Established in 1996 by renowned educationists, who run the G D Somani Memorial School, the B D Somani Institute of Art and Fashion Technology is an endeavor to encourage creativity and offer budding designers and artists the much required guidance and professional training in the ever evolving world of fashion, art and digital communications.
