Blending Indian weaves with modern day sensibilities and paying a special tribute to South India, designer Shilpa Reddy presented her collection at the India Fashion Week held in Dubai. After getting drawn towards Indian ethnic textiles, like handlooms, she decided to become a responsible designer. Taking the thought ahead at the fashion gala in Dubai, she showcased a line ‘Gold fragrance of the raw feminine’, that was created using unbleached, coarse Chanderi cotton.

His creations ranged from saris, palazzo pants, anarkalis , jackets and shawls. The inspiration behind the entire range was the off white and gold sari worn by women in Kerala. Out of her 16 outfits, some of them were in whites and others in deep red, leaf green and gulaal pink shades. The models walked the ramp without wearing footwear as Hindustani alaap and Indian fusion music played in the background. Use of traditional jewellery pieces such as arm bands, sun and moon motifs and waist bands complimented the entire look.

She presented herself as the showstopper of her show, beaming in red and gold dhoti-inspired sari. Other ensembles included saris, long tops and structured bustiers. This was the first edition of the India Fashion Week in Dubai.
