The Harvey Nichols windows in Manchester play to the concept of an ice workshop, within which handcrafted Christmas props have been frozen in production. Featuring animals, mannequins and giant snowflakes trapped in an eerie winter wonderland.

Harvey Nichols Head of Visual Display, Janet Wardley explains the inspiration behind the design, “The beauty of this scheme is that it shows the process of the props being made and highlights the skill involved in producing them. The idea started following a trip to our workshop after the team there had been sculpting with polystyrene, it looked as if it had been magically snowing inside with the workshop frozen in time. The overall effect was a contemporary Christmas setting and it felt like a very novel approach to portraying Christmas.”

Opened in 2003, the Manchester store was the fifth Harvey Nichols, joining the flagship in London, Leeds, Birmingham, and Edinburgh. Additionally, Harvey Nichols has most recently opened in Bristol in September 2008. The retailer also has International locations in Dublin, Dubai, Turkey and Hong Kong.
