The Wills India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2014 edition commenced with a grand opening by designer Tarun Tahiliani. He presented a rich gold rush royal collection inspired by a variety of small things like seven-stringed necklace, Mughal cameos, temple jewellery and rich tones of tapestry and jamawar. Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty sashayed the ramp in a voluminous ghaghra skirt and off-shoulder cropped blouse along with Harman Baweja and Ayesha Khanna.

The collection progressed from saris with waist belts, dhoti pants, printed jackets, lungi skirts, kaftans with belts to intricate salwar pants. Along with the silhouettes even colours progressed from black and white to deeper shades of ruby, emerald, topaz and rust. Silk drapes in vivid colours and prints looked gorgeous on the ramp. The show opened with models walking in black ensembles on a colourful stage having circular colourful wheel. Design in ruby, green, red, rust and golden followed.

Tahiliani is known to take inspiration from India’s rich cultural roots, original sense of style, drama, and intricacy and imbibes it with lightness coupled with a playfulness that bring finesse to his structures and silhouettes.
