The Woolmark Company launched its Autumn/Winter 2014-15 edition of The Wool Lab at the October edition of Wills India Fashion Week in New Delhi. The collection presented seven themes - The Club, Highlands, Simple Chic, Fairy Tale, Street Market, Cinque Ports and Xtreme Knitwear.

The Club has mostly worsted and classic fabrics, luxurious materials like 100 percent extra fine Merino wool or mixes of precious Merino wool with other noble fibres such as silk, mohair, cashmere and alpaca. Highlands interprets a new concept of luxury which is more authentic and close to natural things, with a romance and a history behind it. Traditional UK fabrics and knits, such as tweeds and Shetlands in warm mélanges, 100 percent wool worsted and carded are used under this theme. Structures and patterns consist of classic tweed, sonegal and Shetland, herringbone, twill, overcheck and hound's tooth.

Simple Chic has neat shapes, sophisticated colours and great substance. Special fabrics and yarns have been used and materials include mainly 100 percent wool or wool and silk. Crèpe and sablé, beaver and brushed fabrics, gauze, ottoman, corduroy in wool and wool blends, 3D effects and reliefs, ajouré weave along with light felt. Yarns are crépe, bouclé and frisé; soft yarns with a hairy look adorn the collection. Fairy Tale as the name suggests is inspired by the enchanted world of fairy tales. Printed wool fabrics, embroidery, Lurex and shine effects - both in fabrics and yarns for knitwear are seen in this collection. Structures and patterns include bouclé, Chanel-inspired fabrics, needle punch, light felt and laces.

Street Market has a mix and match atmosphere of Camden Town, the flea market in London, a symbol of street wear trends for generations. Made using fancy and colourful things, the collection has 100 percent wool or wool mixed with mohair, alpaca or cotton. Cinque Ports is inspired by earth and sea and has the charm of authenticity and history. The finishing is mainly worn and washed with thick, slubby, knoppy and mouliné yarns. Xtreme Knitwear consists of thick yarns, chain yarns, with a slubby, soft and compact touch apart from printed yarns, maxi ribs, airy and web patterns, fabric effect knits.

The Wool Lab is created each season in collaboration with the world’s most innovative and quality-oriented spinners and weavers. It is a collection of the most beautiful wool products, commercially available in line with the leading fashion and textile trends.
