Fun and glitz was the high point of the annual fashion show of Premlila Vithaldas Polytechnic SNDT Women’s University at The Leela Kempinski Hotel, Mumbai. The graduating students cheered-on as their peers showcased innovative designs on the ramp. The changing nature of fashion can be felt substantially from the way a particular generation adopts or rejects some form of fashion. The students were at their best with raging passion and a touch of contemporary fashion. From dressing up like ‘taporis’ for a sequence called “Mumbai to mum-bhai” to getting R K Laxman’s famous ‘The Common Man’ to walk the ramp, the show was both entertaining and glamorous.

Well known models like Carol Gracias, Anchal Kumar and Bhavna Sharma walked the ramp in one sequence acting like puppets while in another they dressed up and ready for a cook-out. However, it was the ‘Katputli in Cannes’ collection by Khushboo Karnawat, Rishita Kansara and Ruchika Gododia, which bagged the prestigious ‘Collection of The Year Award’. The young designers showcased motifs and colors borrowed from Rajasthani puppets. The trio used colors of dry, arid sand to create a sensual collection of resort wear that promises to enliven your holiday experience with an easy and effortless charm. The audience was choc-a-bloc with celebs –from the young and dynamic designer Masaba Gupta to the legendary and reclusive designer Shahab Durazi. Also spotted were designers Amy Billimoria, Malini Aggarwal (of Malaga), Anita Dongre among others.
