Hugo Boss seeks new supervisory board chairman
Following the failed takeover by Frasers Group, the supervisory board chairman of fashion group Hugo Boss is stepping down. Stephan Sturm has decided to resign from his position as a member of the supervisory board, effective October 15, the company announced on Monday in Metzingen. The decision follows “constructive discussions against the backdrop of recent changes in the shareholder structure”.
Background to the takeover attempt by Frasers Group
Frasers Group had attempted to take control of Hugo Boss in recent months. Although the takeover narrowly failed, the British company recently held almost 48 percent of the fashion house. The relationship between the major shareholder and the company's management has been tense for some time. Frasers withdrew its confidence in supervisory board chairman Sturm in December, for example. There was also disagreement over the dividend payment.
Sturm had been a member and chairman of the board since May 2025. Hugo Boss will now search for a successor.
