Lenskart rejigs top management, plans aggressive growth

With an eye on the number one position, online retailer Lenskart has made some changes in its top management team. There have been some senior level appointments – five so far - to scale up business.
These appointments have helped the company expand its offline presence, ramp up its manufacturing facility, hire fresh talent and create seamless consumer engagement on its platform. Till now, a chief operating officer for the offline business, chief human resources officer, chief financial officer and two vice presidents have been hired. In addition, a senior executive has been taken on board to lead its overall manufacturing operations.
Lenskart chief executive Peyush Bansal believes that by bringing these new people in has created a professional environment which till now was more entrepreneur led. The new joinees include Sambuddha Bhattacharya, a former Rocket Internet employee who joined as vice president, Calvin Lyndogh joined as chief human resources officer and Sunil Menon GR who joined as vice president-retail operations for offline business.
Lenskart has raised a total of Rs 714 crore from investors till now and it plans to invest more than Rs 100 crores over four years in setting up a new manufacturing facility in Prithla in Haryana. It will be operational in six months. Lenskart plans to consolidate all its manufacturing facilities in the upcoming site. Presently, it manufactures out of three facilities in Delhi’s Okhla area. The company will manufacture 20,000 glasses every day at the new facility. Presently, it makes 10,000 spectacles every day ad 1.5 lakh a month.
The company also plans to double the number of stores from the present 200 by the end of the year. Seventy-five stores will be opened in the second quarter.
