Snapdeal will have a new executive vice president for marketing. It is all set to appoint Kanika Kalra of Hindustan Unilever, where she is the brand director for the company’s biggest skin cream brand Fair & Lovely. The decision to appoint Kalra was taken by Delhi-based Jasper Infotech, which owns and operates Snapdeal. She will replace Srinivas Murthy, who is Senior Vice-President (marketing) at Snapdeal. He will leave the company by March end.
Kalra was with HUL for eight years and worked as global brand manager and global brand director. Before that she was a senior manager at Pepsi. She has also worked with Glaxosmithkline Consumer Healthcare and Genpact. At Snapdeal, Kalra will be the primary custodian of the Snapdeal brand and focus on gaining deeper customer insights, making the business more customer centric, driving creativity and ensuring quality in all communication.
Snapdeal brought in Airtel’s Anand Chandrasekaran and Jayant Sood to take charge as chief product officer and chief customer officer respectively. Of late, e-tailers are trying to woo top talent from brick-and-mortar firms especially consumer goods companies, to manage the challenges of scaling up rapidly.
