A new initiative is all set to roll out in Bangalore and parts of Hyderabad. Aditya Birla Group owned fashion store Abof will launch an on-the-spot alteration service. This comes after the company conducted a two-month pilot programme in Bangalore.

The initiative will help to reduce returns and drive customer satisfaction for alteration. Abof provides many value added services to customers including a 3D trial room and on-spot exchange of apparel due to size issues. The company attributes 15-20 per cent of its shipments to this service which it currently provides for free to customers. Many others are also offering a similar service. For instance, Flipkart-owned Myntra, a fashion portal, offers a similar service at a minimum cost of Rs 50 to customers while Craftsvilla gets unstitched material stitched through its network of tailors.

To provide the service to its customers, Abof is partnering in Bengaluru with YourTailor.in while in other cities the company will partner with similar start-ups to power this through a vendor-partner relationship. After Hyderabad, the service will be expanded to Pune, Mumbai and Delhi-NCR. Abof, which is seven-months old, delivers across 7,500 pincodes with an average order size of about Rs 1,000.

India’s online fashion and electronics market is expected to overtake consumer electronics by 2020.
