Amazon is taking Bengal’s well-known sari brand Tantuja on its global selling program. Tantuja is owned by the West Bengal State Handloom Weavers' Co-operative Society. It is one of the most popular handloom forms in the Indian and West Bengal textile industry. Amazon is providing all possible means to enable the brand to grow internationally across all its marketplaces.

After US, the saris would be sold in the European and UK markets under the global selling program. Tantuja had earlier tied up with Amazon for selling handloom saris within India. So far, online marketing of saris and other handloom products was restricted to the domestic market. In order to add value to its products portfolio, Tantuja has invited weavers from Varanasi to work on its special saris. Tantuja will continue to take the omni-channel marketing route for reaching out to customers.

Amazon India has in the last one year partnered with various government bodies like DC Handloom to uplift artisans and small and medium enterprises across the country. It has taken Indian brands like Biba, Fabindia, Himalaya, Amul and 24 Mantra Organics global.

Amazon India’s global selling program has grown multifold since inception in May 2015 with over 20,000 Indian sellers selling over 45 million products on its ten global marketplaces.
