Anita Dongre hosted a wedding master class at her New York flagship store recently. The aim was to give shoppers a chance to interact with the designer at her store. The summer bridal collection features whimsical pastel hues and rich embellishments. Nature-inspired bead and sequin work feature and layers of fine, sheer chiffon contrast with heavy brocades. A showcase of exquisite Indian aesthetics and craftsmanship in a contemporary language is prevalent in all of Anita Dongre’s designs. Dongre is inspired by Rajasthan and India’s rich craft tradition, and has fashioned handcrafted bridal gotapatti lehengas and handwoven heritage Benarasi creations that are coveted by brides all over. Aside from Dongre’s bespoke bridal, couture, pret and menswear lines, she also works with handcrafted gold jadau jewelry.

The three brands from House of Anita Dongre have 280 EBOs in India. These brands are: AND, Global Desi and Anita Dongre. AND is known for women’s western wear; Global Desi for women’s fusion wear. Anita Dongre opened her first New York flagship store in 2017 for her Grassroots label. Last year, Dongre opened a second flagship store for her eponymous label. The 4,500 sq. ft. space has a focus on bridal wear and Indian traditional wear. Dongre’s designs for the new-age bride are elegant, light and fuss-free ensembles with rich embroidery such as the signature gotapatti on bright colors. For bridegrooms, it’s all about tonal embroidery and structured silhouettes with detailing.
