Kidswear is becoming an exciting segment with so many players jumping into the fray, wooing customers through innovative ideas. Gab Boys, a premium children’s shirt maker, has been in the business, making shirts for kids in the age group 1-5 years, now the brands is looking at introducing T-shirts and bottom wear. The company plans to introduce it by next Diwali.
Looks matter the most
Gab Boys has found over the years that parents are not too bothered about the material as long as it looks new even after a few months. So, looks of an apparel matter a lot. Also, clothes should be basic and stylish. Even international brands sell simple, basic designs. A decent look with an affordable price is what draws customers to a product, and this is the philosophy that Gab Boys follows when selling their clothes. Their specialty is selling clothes meant for kids but they do not resemble children’s clothes. In the sense, these don’t have cartoon characters on them or other kiddie stuff. The idea is to sell clothes which look like that of the adults.
Bharat Kumar Parihar, Director, Gab Boys, explains, “They do not have cartoons on them yet, rather they are funky and stylish. And, we actually have had a great response for these offerings. Typical fashion in kids is evident everywhere however, parents want their kids to have a similar look as theirs and demand something more sophisticated these days.”
Online buying vs offline
Gab Boys isn’t too comfortable with the idea of kidswear shopping online. Parihar believes that actual presence of the product and then buying it makes a lot of difference than virtual buying. The company firmly believes that brick-and-mortar stores provide better business. Also, to return an ill-fitting product online can be time consuming. Gab Boys doesn’t retail, instead it has state wise distributors who reach the products to MBOs.
Parihar doesn’t see himself in the competition race. He says, “I have a collection that caters to the need of the people who don’t have a high monetary capacity but want to wear branded clothes. We are not at par with the big brands but do have look-alike products. Big brands have a sophisticated range which even we provide but at an affordable price.
Gab Boys’ shirts are made from 100 per cent cotton. A variety of plains, jacquards, checks, mix and match and stripes can be found in the collection. Also, the brand uses a different type of sewing technique which lends a finer look to its shirts. Gab Boys’ only challenge is in having better designs which keep on changing with the changes in fashion. At the end of the day, the aim is to keep the customer happy.
