Chennis spreads its retail footprint across India

Garment division of Sivaraj Spinning Mills, an integrated textile company based out of Coimbatore, is targeting Rs 100-crore turnover from its domestic retail business by 2020. The company has announced a retail expansion plan for its brand Chennis.

Subrata Pal, CEO, Chennis says the 10-year-old brand at present offers menswear, women’s wear and children‘s wear. However, the company would focus more on menswear for bringing out a range of outerwear, innerwear, ethnic wear and sportswear. Also on the agenda is increasing the number of company-owned outlets to 30 by 2018. Chenani, Bengaluru and Hyderabad will have more stores and the brand will open new stores in Ahmedabad, Pune, and Mumbai. At present the company focuses on Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka and in Tier-II cities.

He further added the company will expand to metros and move to the western states this year. The company will also be selling through five major e-commerce portals soon. At present, 10 per cent of the group‘s turnover comes from retail business. The company‘s plan to take this up to 32 per cent by 2020 and have a pan-India presence.
