At the Lakme Fashion Week Summer-Resort 2016, German ElektroCouture and Friends made their India debut. The brand showcased its bespoke innovative electronic wearable collection at the five-day extravaganza. ElektroCouture is a collaborative house for bespoke technologies along with six international designers like Lina Wassong, Melissa Coleman, Valerie Lamontagne, Igor Knezevic, Kristin Neidlinger and Chritian Bruns belonging to different countries like Britain, Canada and the US. The fashion house is based in Berlin and showcases a collection of fashion and technology.
What is interesting about this concept is combining technologies into design, accessories, couture and pret fashion in order to find new ways of digitalising environment and human body. Some of their work include inventive battery systems to the latest in light technology, digital knitting and weaving, traditional hand processes to achieve radical shapes to 3D printing, sound reactive LEDs, motion and light sensors and mood technology. ElektroCouture uses light technology like other designers use colour or cut. The idea is to use light to make it wearable, multifunctional and easy-to-wear.
For Lisa Lang, who founded ElektroCouture in 2014 believes, associating with Lakme Fashion Week is a great opportunity. It showcased Indians how technology can revolutionise the way Lang and her company works and designs in fashion. Lang started her pret-a-porter fashion house in Berlin ElektroCouture in 2014.
