Flipkart will initially start this programme for its ‘Gold’ category sellers and eventually extend it to other sellers. Amazon had launched its global seller programme two years ago, and over 23,000 Indian sellers sell through the platform globally.

This is a large opportunity and the company is looking to build on it with a massive seller base, the expertise of eBay India along with Flipkart’s technology and marketplace strength, says Goteti.

Customers will globally shop through eBay's platform, Flipkart will fulfill the orders in partnership with carriers. The program will enable sellers from India to sell to over 171 million active customers of eBay globally in over 190 international markets. 'Global Powership' programme will be leveraged wherein it has partnered with international vendors and carrier services. There will be no branding on the eBay platform by Flipkart.
