Not many in India have heard about a German watch maker, for most of us are
adept at wearing and gifting Swiss made time pieces. However, as German
watch making companies gain ground across the globe, consumers are opting
for these timeless timepieces. In India too, German luxury watchmaker A
Lange & Söhne is making inroads among luxury buyers. A Lange & Söhne makes
high quality watches and is regarded one of the best high-end watch
It is now focusing on the Indian premium products market more aggressively. The company, which specialises in hand-crafted technical movement time pieces, has been in India since 2008 with five stores. Ramzi Nael, Brand Director for India, Middle East & Africa, says his company will be increasing the brand’s penetration in the country even as it explores opening single-brand retail stores. India is an important market not only for A Lange & Söhne, but also for many other luxury brands.
Nael says the German company doesn’t have a standalone boutique in India. Nael feels, the retail infrastructure in India is not yet ready and there is only one premium luxe mall at Delhi, the DLF Emporio. The Indian consumer has been shopping for luxury products for a long time, not only in the country, but also abroad. It is a very critical market. A Lange & Söhne has future expansion plans here. The time pieces which cost between Rs 10.75 lakh and Rs 2.2 crore each are available in two stores in Delhi, one in Mumbai, one in Chennai and Bengaluru.
